Water

Have towels changed only when it is necessary (leave them on the floor if you want fresh ones)

Turn off the shower while you soap yourself all over

Notify reception if a toilet or tap is leaking

Electricity

Turn off the air conditioner when it is not needed (at night or when you leave the room)

Keep doors and windows closed when the air conditioner is on

Switch off the lights when you leave your room

Waste

If possible, dispose of waste in towns and villages

Use the drums for sorting glass, plastics, metal and paper (parking area)

Competition - Terms & Conditions

All forms with correct answers received on or before the closing date at our lodges will be entered in the draw (only one entry per sender’s address will be accepted)
Additional entries can be made on the competition entry forms at the lodges
The prize: 2 return tickets to Windhoek and 12 nights (DBB) for 2 people at Gondwana lodges of their choice (excluding car rental and other services)
The winner will be notified by email and will receive a prize voucher
The voucher will be valid until 31 December 2014
The voucher is transferable, but it cannot be exchanged for cash
The result of the draw is final

Environmental measures of Gondwana

The lodges of Gondwana Collection Namibia feel part of Mother Nature. Respecting her generosity and to sustain her hospitality permanently, Gondwana is investing in protecting the environment and measures are being taken on an ongoing basis to run the lodges as environmentally friendly as possible:

Water

Special showerheads or pressure dampers
Wastewater is recycled for use in the garden
Toilet flushing systems are designed for optimum capacity utilization of the water recycling plant
Gardens are planted mainly with water-wise indigenous plants, recycled water covers all watering needs

Electricity

Link to the power grid (effectively generated electricity)
Geysers equipped with timers against continuous reheating (always leaves enough hot water for several showers)
Air conditioners with timers
Energy-saving light bulbs
Gas stoves in the kitchen

Waste

Kitchen waste is composted or fed to the pigs
Waste caused by packaging is reduced by bulk purchasing
Souvenir shop uses paper bags instead of plastic
Waste is sorted into glass, plastic, metal and paper...
... and taken to recycling facilities in town (up to 300 km away)

By booking a stay with Gondwana, guests are contributing towards the financing of all these measures.
