    Overview & Location

Situated on the crest of ancient sand dunes overlooking the spectacular landscape of the Namib Desert, Namib Dune Star Camp offers the thrill of being out in nature yet provides luxuries like soft beds and hot showers.

The intimate camp has nine cabins, with a fair distance between them. Each cabin has an en-suite bathroom, a large bedroom, and a spacious deck. The rooms have a double bed designed to be wheeled out for a night under the southern skies.

At the end of the day, make your way to the wide central deck for unrivalled vistas of the breath-taking scenery. Sip on a sundowner drink as the sun bathes the landscape in gold. Sunset is followed by a delicious dinner under a blanket of twinkling stars.

Namib Dune Star Camp is an eco-friendly camp where careful consideration has been taken in the design and construction to ensure that it leaves a minimum footprint. This is an opportunity for guests to be mindful of resources and to step lightly in the delicate desert environment.

Savour the desert wilderness at Namib Dune Star Camp, with its exceptional view, clean air, wide open space and the bright starlit Namibian sky. The Dune Star experience is a one-night once-in-a-lifetime Namib Desert opportunity.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Can I sleep under the stars at Namib Dune Star Camp?

Yes, sleeping under the open sky is a signature experience here. Each of the nine eco-cabins features a specially designed double bed on wheels that can be rolled out onto your large private wooden deck, allowing you to sleep directly beneath the brilliant Namibian night sky

How do I get to Namib Dune Star Camp?

Guests check in at Namib Desert Lodge, where vehicles are safely parked. From there, a mandatory, scheduled 4x4 lodge transfer transports you directly to the camp. Departure times change seasonally, arriving punctually for your shuttle is essential.

    • June – August: arrival at 15:45 for departure at 16:00
    • September – November: arrival at 16:45 for departure at 17:00
    • December – February: arrival at 17:15 for departure at 17:30
    • March – May: arrival at 16:45 for departure at 17:00

Here is the itinerary for a night at Namib Dune Star Camp.

Can I bring my full luggage to the camp?

No, large suitcases cannot be transported up the sand dunes due to vehicle weight and space constraints. Guests are required to pack a small overnight bag with their immediate essentials for their night at the camp. Your main luggage remains securely stored at Namib Desert Lodge.

Are children allowed at Namib Dune Star Camp?

Children aged 12 years and younger are unfortunately not permitted at the camp. Because of the rugged dune terrain, the intimate eco-focused design and the physical nature of the guided walking excursions, the property is tailored strictly for adults and older teenagers seeking a quiet adventure.

How many nights can I spend at Namib Dune Star Camp?

The Dune Star experience is strictly a one-night itinerary. Because it is designed as an intimate, eco-conscious "soft adventure" getaway focused on a single sunset, stargazing night, and sunrise walk, guests stay for one night before returning to the main property. We highly recommend booking a night at Namib Desert Lodge first.

Is Namib Dune Star Camp an eco-friendly property?

Yes, the camp is a strictly eco-friendly, solar-powered retreat designed with a minimal environmental footprint. Water is used mindfully, and electricity is generated entirely via solar panels, offering travellers a deeply authentic, sustainable connection to the fragile and ancient ecosystem of the Namib Desert.
