Put Foot Rally – Africa Adventures for a good cause

Avatar of inke inke - 16. June 2017 - Discover Namibia, Sport

Five countries, five checkpoints, 8000km, eighteen days… The Put Foot Rally is a rally of the ages in which fun, the experience of Africa and charity are at the forefront. The rally kicks off in Cape Town on 18 June and will make its way to Malawi via Namibia, Botswana and Zambia, and ends on 6 July. This is an iconic rally, this year being the seventh annual event where people from all over the world come together to explore the most beautiful places of southern Africa. In Namibia, the Fish River Canyon, Sossusvlei, the red dunes of the Kalahari and the Etosha National Park are included.

Gondwana looks forward to hosting the Put Foot Rally again this year. On 19 June, the rally will find its home amongst the classic cars of the Canyon Roadhouse, where participants will have the opportunity to rest and fill up on petrol. The following day, the off-road participants head to the Namib Desert Lodge at the foot of the petrified dunes of the ancient Namib, while the on-road rally continues to Kalahari Anib Lodge. The Etosha Safari Camp will host the two rally classes on 22 June. On 25 June, the Put Foot Rally will leave Namibia via Gobabis and enter Botswana.

The Put Foot Rally is a very special experience and not a rally in any real sense, because there is no first prize. The requirements for the different categories are rather wide. You can enter in the classic cars, standard vehicle, SUV/4x4- RV/Mini-van/Camper, motorcycle or special class. The main requirement is that the vehicles are roadworthy and safe. There is however a registration condition… The teams have to implement the theme ‘legends’, which leave a lot of room for creativity and inventiveness.

The Put Foot Rally Foundation organizes the charitable side of the rally. It ensures that children in Africa receive their first pair of school shoes and supports nature conservation organisations for endangered wild animals.
