Avatar of inke inke - 10. October 2017 - Gondwana Collection

Happy faces at the prize giving (ltr): Manni Goldbeck (Gondwana Collection), Mrs Strauss (on behalf of her son James Strauss), Sirka Amaambo, Jacqueline Pack (Bank Windhoek), Daniel van Wyk, Benna van der Walt and Sylvia Schlettwein.

The winners of the Faces of Namibia competition have been announced! The competition was powered by the Gondwana Collection, in partnership with Bank Windhoek, and received over 130 entries.

The theme of the competition was ‘what about Namibia inspires you’ and offered a variety of interesting stories. The stories could be submitted into three age categories, 12-15 years, 16-24 years and 25 and over. Prizes for each category include, a N$10 000.00 cash prize for first place, N$5 000.00 cash prize and a Gondwana Collection Voucher for second, and a Gondwana Collection Voucher for third place (vouchers are set as a two night stay for two people at any Gondwana Collection property).

Winners of the respective categories are: In the 12-15 years group, in first place Zamira van Wyk, second place Daniel van Wyk and in third, Amber Mouton. In the 16-24 category the winner was James Strauss, with Benna van der Walt in second and Tulipomwene Kalunduka in third place. Finally, in the category 25 and over, in first place was Sylvia Schlettwein, Sirka Amaambo in second place and Roya Diehl in third. A big congratulations goes out to all winners.

“There were so many phenomenal stories, it was hard to pick only three winners in each category,” says Gondwana Content Developer, Jescey Visagie. “One thing that really came across with this competition was the love people have for our country.”

Stories told spoke of patriotism, friendship, cultural appreciation and the odd insight into Namibian life.

All stories can be read on the website www.faces-of-namibia.com.
