Ending the week On the Edge

Nestled on a hilltop in a rather isolated location in Windhoek, adorned exquisitely with palm trees is Hotel Thule, where imagination and reality meet. 

It’s somewhat a haven, where you can sit and reflect amid the cool breeze drifting through your hair, birds chirping the day away, the therapeutic sound of children playing in the background, while appreciating the view of the city from the Terrace restaurant and sipping on a glass of Middelvlei Merlot. Surely this is the perfect way to end your week!

Warm welcomes are something of the norm here, from the manager to the waiter, who ensured it felt just like home. Our waiter familiarised us with ‘On the Edge’ restaurant where a proposal seemingly has never gone wrong and often a sweet ‘YES’ is returned to the eager pursuer. We made it back outside, at the Terrace restaurant, where my colleague and I spent most of the evening. The atmosphere was filled with laughter from corner to corner as night fell swiftly, with stars and the Luna Eclipse Moonlight showing-off and the lovely city lights of Windhoek vying for centre stage. 

At last it was dinner time… I went for the flavourful French style snails on a bed of melted garlic butter, topped with cheese alongside slices of brown bread to dip. Delightful of course, with the fusion of unique flavours and aromas. My colleague opted for a battered hake fillet packed with zest, soft potato fries, coupled with a refreshing tartar sauce. And yes, we left our plates clean, that’s how delicious the meals were and we will certainly be returning again and again.

If you’ve been craving international-style cuisine with a Namibian flair, are in search for the perfect sundowner spot with a stunning view, or are in need of the perfect cosy date-night spot? On the Edge or Terrace restaurants are definitely worth trying out. 

Restaurant operating times

On the Edge Restaurant: Monday to Saturday from 7am - 10am (Breakfast), 6:30pm - 10pm (Dinner). Sundays and Public Holidays from 7am - 10am and closed for Dinner.

Terrace: Monday to Saturday from 12pm to 10pm and closed on Sundays and Public Holidays.
