Darkness stretches its daunting fingers into every direction, making you wonder what is hiding in the shadows… Intimidating, isn’t it? The Desert Dash, while exhilarating, challenging and absolutely thrilling, is most definitely not for the feint hearted.

Yesterday afternoon, the Gondwana Collection welcomed the arrival of the two European, and three South African based riders, who will be tackling the 2017 Nedbank Desert Dash. This initiative was introduced to the Gondwana Collection by the enthusiastic and competitive cyclist, Piet Swiegers from Klein-Aus Vista Lodge with the idea to promote Namibia as a cycling destination by participating in this international cycling event.

New eco-friendly lodge in the Gondwana Namib Park

The Gondwana Collection is building a new lodge in the endless expanse of the Namib. Construction is in full swing. “The lodge will reflect the solitude, space and mesmerizing colours of the Namib Desert,” says Alain Noirfalise, Gondwana’s Director of Operations. “It will offer an upmarket alternative to the Namib Desert Lodge, 10km away. The name: The Desert Grace.”

Selected boat trips temporarily suspended from September to December

When one sees the local Rundu inhabitants wading through the Okavango on foot, it is clear: Unfortunately, boat trips for guests at Hakusembe River Lodge have been stopped temporarily. This is due to the low water levels in the river. The Chobe River might also be affected and with it the activities at the Chobe River Camp.

Zambezi Mubala Lodge welcomes first guests

The Gondwana Collection’s newest lodge, the Zambezi Mubala Lodge in the far east of the Zambezi Region, is excitedly awaiting the arrival of the first guests on 1 November. Guests are ferried to the lodge by boat. The boat trip gives guests an idyllic first impression of the spectacular water world of the Zambezi and the spacious lodge along its banks. Zambezi Mubala Lodge offers eighteen luxurious and spacious double rooms, and two family cabins with en-suite bathrooms and stunning views of the river landscape.
