Facelift for Damara Mopane Lodge

Avatar of inke inke - 09. September 2016 - Gondwana Collection

Fresh colors for the renovated and newly decorated rooms of Damara Mopane Lodge.

Damara Mopane Lodge is currently undergoing a soft revamp. Fresh wall paint in all the lodge buildings as well as renovated, newly equipped and decorated rooms will enhance the Damaraland experience of our guests.

As the lodge complex is spaciously designed current guests can enjoy their visit completely undisturbed. The hospitality operations are not affected by the renovation works which will be completed at the end of February 2017.

The Damara Mopane Lodge of the Gondwana Collection opened its doors in November 2010. It is situated some 20 km east of Khorixas on the tar road to Outjo and consists of 55 double room chalets. The renovations works will ensure that the African flair of Damara Mopane Lodge continues to blend in with comforts of international standards.

Each of the chalets sports a private veranda and its own little garden. Maize and mahangu are grown together with lettuce, tomatoes and sunflowers. The gardens are not merely for decoration. They supply many of the fresh ingredients for the salads and side dishes which make guests' mouths water at the buffet in the restaurant.

The lodge is ideally suited as an overnight stop between the coastal town of Swakopmund (distance 320 km) and Etosha National Park (200 km). Sights in the area include Twyfelfontein (130 km), the Petrified Forest (55 km) and the Vingerklip rock stack (50 km). Twyfelfontein was declared a World Heritage Site in 2007. Around 2,500 rock engravings are found there, some of them estimated to be several thousand years old.
