May HOPE be our North Star and guide us to life!

This is the message the Cancer Association of Namibia CAN, would like to spread with this year’s Pink Day on 28 October. This day aims to give hope and support all those suffering from breast cancer. It also aims to promote awareness, and that breast cancer can be cured if it is diagnosed early enough.

Official celebrations will take place at the Gondwana Travel Centre in Windhoek, together with partners and sponsors of the Cancer Association. As of 2016, this now includes the Gondwana Collection.

A professional CAN team toured the country this year and visited our lodges to provide health education and valuable advice on healthy lifestyles. It also offered screening including pap smear, breast examination and prostate cancer examinations at the lodges as well as in nearby villages and settlements.

The CAN team visited the Namushasha River Lodge and Hakusembe River Lodge in northern Namibia, Etosha Safari Lodge and CampDamara Mopane LodgeCanyon LodgeCanyon Village and Canyon Roadhouse in the south and the Gondwana Travel Centre in Windhoek. A total of 250 Gondwana employees accepted the offer of a cancer screening. A big success!

Cooperation between Gondwana and the Cancer Association will continue in 2017.
