Gondwana’s environmentally friendly Namib Dune Star Camp is solar-powered and could be easily dismantled and removed, leaving no trace in the sensitive environment.

Gondwana Collection has won the “Namibia Sustainable Development Award 2017” in the category “Best Social Media”. The award acknowledges the lodge group’s efforts to create public awareness of sustainable development via social media. This initiative of the Environmental Investment Fund of Namibia, the Sustainable Development Advisory Council and the Hanns Seidel Foundation is a biannual event.

Gondwana combines its hospitality business with nature conservation and social commitment in a sustainable manner. Nature conservation is financed with the proceeds from the eco-friendly hospitality business, which in turn creates jobs and career opportunities for the local population. Over the past 22 years Gondwana has always tried to share its company philosophy and spirit with the public by embracing the brand essence “Have a story to tell”.

As technology continues to evolve at incredible speed, a forward-looking approach to online marketing and adoption of technology has gained more and more importance. Gondwana recognized the signs of times and developed a comprehensive online presence, including the Gondwana website with storytelling and news sections as well as various social media sites.

Gondwana captures Namibian stories and distributes general information about Namibia, also comprising ecological and cultural topics. Various social media platforms and modes of online communication offer the opportunity to stay in close touch with people in Namibia and abroad who share an interest in our country.

Gondwana would like to thank the Environmental Investment Fund of Namibia, the Sustainable Development Advisory Council and the Hanns Seidel Foundation for their initiative „Namibia Sustainable Development Awards 2017“. The prize money for the category “Best Social Media” will go to the Gondwana Care Trust. The Trust is responsible for the management of all social responsibility and environmental initiatives Gondwana is engaged in.
