In commemorating, appreciating and supporting efforts to keep the Constitution in the souls of all generations Gondwana Collection invited the living members of the Constitutional Committee to be part of The Great Conversation which was a historic reunion of our living Constitutional writers. It was held on 30 January 2020 in the Constitution Room of the Parliament Building in Windhoek where the Constituent Committee gathered 30 years ago. The venue has been made available by the generosity of the Speaker of the National Assembly and fellow-constitutional writer, Dr Peter Katjavivi.

The purpose of the Great Conversation was aimed at bringing together the living drafters of the Namibian Constitution. This was a unique opportunity that no society in the world of independent nations has the privilege of doing.

This event was one of many in the march to the 30th Independence Celebrations of a peaceful, stable and democratic country. The main aim is to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the Namibian Constitution, in which the invited guests have played a crucial role. Gondwana wants to spread awareness of the magnificent achievement the adoption of the constitution was, by allowing each member to give a short speech, with regards to the Constitution.

The event was filmed by Gondwana Collection Namibia and the video has been released in accordance with Constitution Day on the 9th of February.

With the assistance of a Namibian veteran Journalist, Chris Jacobie, and the relationships he has developed over three decades with the various leaders, every one of the living writers were contacted personally and agreed their attendance with much anticipation. Mr Jacobie assisted us tremendously in contacting everyone and supported us with the location and proceedings of The Great Conversation.
